I wish all of you an amazing summer! If your child missed the last couple of days of school, please pick up their things at the office either tomorrow or today.
On the morning of Tuesday June 28th, the grade 4 classes will be going on a walking field trip to Confluence Park. Please pack a garbage free snack and help your child dress appropriately for the weather and a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. If necessary please pack a raincoat. Thank you!
We have had a busy last couple of days! They started building their cars. Some students still have not brought in any material. Thank you to those students that are sharing! Today was National Indigenous People's Day. We listened to a story and then created 'dot art.' These will be going home tomorrow. They made clocks today! I noticed many of them are having a hard time telling time still, hopefully these help! With the warm weather we are trying to be outside more! Please remember sunscreen, hats and water bottles! Here are some pictures from today!
We finished the book, "We Are All Wonders" and will be watching the movie tomorrow! You can bring a special snack and a stuffy. We will be comparing the book and the movie in the afternoon.
This week we would like to start building our box cars for our Science unit. Please talk to your child about type of material (recycled) they would like to use. Please have them bring in this material. You can look at examples of "cars made out of recycled material" online. Last Friday we had presenters from Junior Achievement come in and work with us all day. We learned about how economies work, what resources and goods are, and what trade is. In Math today we measured different objects while creating a picture. In Science they are making posters for our new science unit "simple machines." They will be able to take these home soon. We are down to 11 days until the end of the year! We will review spelling words but will not have anymore spelling tests.
Today we started research projects on simple machines! We used books from the library to gather information. Afterwards they used computers to type out their information and print some pictures. We will continue with these throughout the week. We will be using the same spelling words this week as last.
