The continued to have silent writing time today to work on their stories. At the end of the 20 minutes of writing, they shared their first chapters with a peer. Ask your child what their story is about. We talked about protagonists, antagonists, beginning, middle, end and problem. We also talked about imagining their stories as a movie.

Look at the date today with your child! We found it fascinating and each listed 3 things we noticed about it. When will this happen again with numbers in our calendar? When did it happen last? 02/20/2020.

In Math we worked on high, medium and low fact questions.

We made a chart today about "What Room 13 Love About Themselves." We got to brag about our greatest personality strengths and why people choose to be our friends! Ask your child what they were proud to say.

I can't believe tomorrow if Friday already! Please remember to study your spelling words tonight.

Greetings Students and Parents. Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Lisa Craig, and I am pleased to inform you that your child will be in my class this year. Please note that due to Covid modifications this placement may be temporary as classes may need to be adjusted again once classes resume. There have been several measures taken at school to ensure the safety of students. One measure has been to create multi-aged classrooms throughout the school in order to better distribute students, creating smaller cohorts. This means that your child will be in a combined Grade 3/4 class this year. Our class will be meeting in the field along Bermuda Way, in the area closest to the compound (NE corner). Our class will enter the school at 8:00am, and will be dismissed at 2:30 in the afternoon, in order to limit the number of students using doors and stairways at the same time. Chanie Wenjack

 Ask your child who Chanie Wenjack is. We learned all about his story today and wrote about him in detail. We explained what happened to him and how it made us feel. We learned that this week is 'Secret Path Week." Secret Path Week is a national movement which occurs annually from Oct 17-22. The week was inspired by Chanie Wenjack, a victim of the residential school system.  Schools have an opportunity to become Legacy Schools and facilitate learning during this week and over the school year through stories of resilience and participating in the 'Walk for Wenjack', which raise awareness of the legacy of residential schools.  ​ For P.E this week we are walking everyday to raise awareness and count our steps. Fraction Codes

We have been continuing our learning with fractions. Yesterday they were given a 10x10 graph paper sheet. They created a picture through 8 different colours. They then wrote the fraction of each colour on the grid paper. For example, 5/100 - green. Afterwards they wrote the percentage beside the fraction. Grade 4 has started to learn about decimal points and added that as well. We had a class conversation about where we see percentages in our world? They had many great examples. Ask them what they contributed. Today they created codes with different fractions. They seemed to really enjoy this. Maybe they can show you an example at home! Yesterday and today we read Science articles about vertebrae and invertebrate animals. Afterwards they answered questions on the back.   In Language Arts we are talking about character traits.
