Busy Learning

We have been very busy in room 13 learning about fractions, lights and shadows, animal adaptations and countries around the world (and how they relate to the quality of life in Alberta)!

They also enjoyed creating some art for New Years. They started off by writing about their goals and things they look forward to for 2021. Some of them wrote 6 pages worth of ideas! To go with this writing, they created fire work art pieces. We will be putting these on display in our classroom.

Fractions seem to really be clicking in everyone's brains this week! We have been playing bingo and even made our own fraction kits. To make the fraction kits they started off with 6 equal strips. Each strip was then cut into: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 and we kept one as a whole. This allowed them to see and understand that all fractions are equal part of a whole.

In Science we worked with computers to look up definitions or words such as: light, shadow, translucent, transparent, opaque and more. Today we will continue our research skills as we gather information about books.

Thanks for reading!
