Happy Summer!

What a year! I can't imagine a more awesome class to have gone through this year with. Thank you to all of the family members and students to getting through it! The memories will stay with all of us. In saying that, I look forward to seeing everyone next year, with hope of a more 'normal' learning environment.  I will miss you all!  Love,  Mrs. Craig

Last Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the last day of school and we are done at 11:50. It is 'Hawaiian themed' and we will be having a bit of a party for the last hour! Let's face it, after this year, we deserve it! We can not share snacks, so bring something for just yourself!  Report cards will be available on Power School on Saturday.

We Are Back (again)!

We had a very busy first day back! We walked into a plastic wrapped classroom again. After cleaning up all of the plastic, we brained stormed ideas of what we could do with all of the waste. They decided to make balls out of the wrapping and played with them outside at recess. They also used them for kites.  We created our totem pole animals today out of water colours.  Ask them what animal they chose and why: Totem Animals and Their Meanings Bear: Brave Deer: Loving Beaver: determined Butterfly: vulnerable Moose: strong Owl: wise Rabbit: creative turtle: patient Wolf: loyal Porcupine: curious Raven: truthful Fox: clever In Math we completed questions on 3D shapes.  Everyday this week they will be sent home with work they completed throughout the year.  Friday is our last day of school! Report cards will be on power school.

Kamp!

We have had a busy last couple of days, with all of the fun Kamp Kiwanis activities! Yesterday we played BINGO with the Science words: producer, consumer and decomposer. We then made a chart, and drew examples of each of these. Every morning we begin with a virtual camp fire and 3 camp leaders. They sing songs and do skits.  We have been playing fun games outside such as moth and bat! Today we went for a long walk while we tried to unscramble clues to make a word. They even made cabins out of natural resources! Today we made a big class poster labeled 'Environmental Pledges'. Ask your child what they wrote.  To end our day today we learned about Sky Science! Ask them about this activity.  We will not be having spelling words this week.

Kamp Kiwanis!

Dear Parents/Guardians    Next week, June 7-9, the Grade 3 and 4 students at Beddington Heights School will have the privilege of taking part in multiple outdoor education activities provided to our school by Kamp Kiwanis, which will be led by your child’s classroom teacher.    These activities will include a virtual campfire, painting, and several outdoor activities connected to our Science curriculum.    As the majority of the day will be spent outdoors, it is important that your child is dressed for the day, and prepared for the potential of rain and wind.    Please     Please ensure your child comes to school with:  A jacket or raincoat  A hat  A water bottle  Sunglasses (if desired)  Good walking shoes/socks  Dress in layers  A litter-less snack    In the morning please apply sunscreen and bug spray    Your child will still participate in their Music and Physical Education classes according to their normal schedule.        We look forward to an exciting, engaging week of learning.

Import/Export

Yesterday we had a nutritionist join us (via Skype) from Save on Foods! We learned about reading labels and making healthy choices. It was a great presentation where we were able to ask questions and share our healthy habits.  In Math today we worked with measurement, area and perimeter. We used real tape measurers this time, which made things easier! In Social Studies we had a great class discussion about imports and exports. This would be a great topic to continue at home. What do we export in Canada? Students who have been learning about Human Sexuality have a sheet they are bringing home tonight. Many of them have so many great questions about the changes our bodies go through! It would be great if you could go through the sheet with them.  Tomorrow in Science we will start building our box cars and bridges! Please bring in any material that you need, if you haven't already.
