Spring Flowers

 This morning we had 'free writing time.' Some students struggled with not knowing what to write about. We talked about how writing can be a great way to make up stories that you have always wished could really happen! It is also great for getting your feelings out about different situations. Ask your child what they wrote about. 

I read a story called, "Sophie Tells The Truth." We talked about our siblings and if we were the younger sibling or older. We also have 2 students in our class that do not have siblings. They like it that way! :)

They completed their spelling test. I have sent it home along with their Math test from yesterday. The grade 4's (and some grade 3's) have an extension on the back of their Math test. 

To end the day, we did water colour Spring flowers! These will be completed on Monday. We also gave each person a word (compliment) to start the weekend off right. Ask your child what word someone used to describe them!

Please note that due to Covid modifications this placement may be temporary as classes may need to be adjusted again once classes resume. One measure has been to create multi-aged classrooms throughout the school in order to better distribute students, creating smaller cohorts. How Do Scientists Know So Much?

 In Science today we asked the over arching question of, 'How Do Scientists Know So Much?" We gathered all of our ideas together as a class. We then learned that staying curious and asking big questions in very important as a student.  Ask your child how fingerprints are made. We made our own fingerprints in our Science book using pencil and tape. Maybe they can show you this at home.  In Grade 6 they are doing their own class election. We are able to vote this year too! In Social Studies today we learned about 3 big questions:  1.) What is the role of government? 2.) How do a dictatorship and democracy differ? 3.) Why is it important to vote? 4.) Who is responsible for making decisions and laws in Canada? We had an excellent discussion while writing about our ideas in our journals.  In Math we learned 5 different strategies to multiply single digit numbers.
