Spelling!

 This morning we started with our coding unit on the lap tops! We enjoyed it much more today, as the program was more fit for our age group (after some feedback!). 

We started some array haunted houses today! I will include a picture for reference tomorrow. We wrote out the multiplication sentence as well as the division opposite. 

We are starting spelling words this week! Please know that the flexibility of grouping changes throughout the year. Your child may start in a certain group and end up in a different one. We will get to know which group works best for their own learning goals. I have let your child know what group they are starting in, so please ask them and study the words when possible. We will be having spelling tests every Friday. 

Red: as, has, fox, box, mix

Blue: next, left, help, please, believe

Green: attach, where, sandwich, change, watch

Greetings Students and Parents. Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Lisa Craig, and I am pleased to inform you that your child will be in my class this year. Please note that due to Covid modifications this placement may be temporary as classes may need to be adjusted again once classes resume. There have been several measures taken at school to ensure the safety of students. One measure has been to create multi-aged classrooms throughout the school in order to better distribute students, creating smaller cohorts. This means that your child will be in a combined Grade 3/4 class this year. Our class will be meeting in the field along Bermuda Way, in the area closest to the compound (NE corner). How Do Scientists Know So Much?

 In Science today we asked the over arching question of, 'How Do Scientists Know So Much?" We gathered all of our ideas together as a class. We then learned that staying curious and asking big questions in very important as a student.  Ask your child how fingerprints are made. We made our own fingerprints in our Science book using pencil and tape. Maybe they can show you this at home.  In Grade 6 they are doing their own class election. We are able to vote this year too! In Social Studies today we learned about 3 big questions:  1.) What is the role of government? 2.) How do a dictatorship and democracy differ? 3.) Why is it important to vote? 4.) Who is responsible for making decisions and laws in Canada? We had an excellent discussion while writing about our ideas in our journals.  In Math we learned 5 different strategies to multiply single digit numbers.
