Turkey Writing

Today we made a poster about different strategies for division. They all worked on a variety of different questions, dependent on their comfort level. Some students asked for really big numbers and were able to explain their strategy and get to the correct answer. 

In reading, we read an article about Pixar films and answered 6 questions. 

Since Thanksgiving (for some) is coming up, we did a fun writing assignment. I have sent these home with them today. Please have your child read these to you. Most students worked really hard, others I have assigned this home for homework. We worked on this for an hour, so please talk to your child about the work they completed in that time...maybe they should or could add some more detail tomorrow.

Greetings Students and Parents. Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Lisa Craig, and I am pleased to inform you that your child will be in my class this year. Please note that due to Covid modifications this placement may be temporary as classes may need to be adjusted again once classes resume. There have been several measures taken at school to ensure the safety of students. One measure has been to create multi-aged classrooms throughout the school in order to better distribute students, creating smaller cohorts. How Do Scientists Know So Much?

 In Science today we asked the over arching question of, 'How Do Scientists Know So Much?" We gathered all of our ideas together as a class. We then learned that staying curious and asking big questions in very important as a student.  Ask your child how fingerprints are made. We made our own fingerprints in our Science book using pencil and tape. Maybe they can show you this at home.  In Grade 6 they are doing their own class election. We are able to vote this year too! In Social Studies today we learned about 3 big questions:  1.) What is the role of government? 2.) How do a dictatorship and democracy differ? 3.) Why is it important to vote? 4.) Who is responsible for making decisions and laws in Canada? We had an excellent discussion while writing about our ideas in our journals.  In Math we learned 5 different strategies to multiply single digit numbers.
