Last Full Week!

 We have had a busy last couple of days! They started building their cars. Some students still have not brought in any material. Thank you to those students that are sharing! 

Today was National Indigenous People's Day. We listened to a story and then created 'dot art.' These will be going home tomorrow. 

They made clocks today! I noticed many of them are having a hard time telling time still, hopefully these help! 

With the warm weather we are trying to be outside more! Please remember sunscreen, hats and water bottles!

Greetings Students and Parents. Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Lisa Craig, and I am pleased to inform you that your child will be in my class this year. Please note that due to Covid modifications this placement may be temporary as classes may need to be adjusted again once classes resume. There have been several measures taken at school to ensure the safety of students. One measure has been to create multi-aged classrooms throughout the school in order to better distribute students, creating smaller cohorts. This means that your child will be in a combined Grade 3/4 class this year. Our class will be meeting in the field along Bermuda Way, in the area closest to the compound (NE corner). Our class will enter the school at 8:00am, and will be dismissed at 2:30 in the afternoon, in order to limit the number of students using doors and stairways at the same time. How Do Scientists Know So Much?

 In Science today we asked the over arching question of, 'How Do Scientists Know So Much?" We gathered all of our ideas together as a class. We then learned that staying curious and asking big questions in very important as a student.  Ask your child how fingerprints are made. We made our own fingerprints in our Science book using pencil and tape. Maybe they can show you this at home.  In Grade 6 they are doing their own class election. We are able to vote this year too! In Social Studies today we learned about 3 big questions:  1.) What is the role of government? 2.) How do a dictatorship and democracy differ? 3.) Why is it important to vote? 4.) Who is responsible for making decisions and laws in Canada? We had an excellent discussion while writing about our ideas in our journals.  In Math we learned 5 different strategies to multiply single digit numbers. Ask your child what strategy they find the most helpful. Strategies: arrays, equal groups, repeated addition, skip count
